ANS Proudly Champions Living Wage

ANS are the first Managed Service provider in Manchester to commit to Living Wage

ANS Group recently announced that they are the first Managed Service provider in Manchester to commit to the Living Wage standard.

The Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at ANS, regardless of whether they are permanent employees or third-party contractors and suppliers; receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.25, significantly higher than the national minimum wage of £6.70.

The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. It is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet.

Paul Shannon COO, ANS said of the accreditation:

“In the past, we made a commitment to pay above the National Minimum wage amount so when the Living Wage rate was announced in July, we were eager to gain the accreditation. We aim to be a company of firsts and champion innovation so we made it our mission to be the first Manchester based Managed Service provider to become a Living Wage employer.

At ANS we recognise that every employee forms an integral part of not only our company, but of our culture. Each individual’s contribution is valued and it’s therefore only right that we show our commitment, in the same way that our team commit to the business and our customers each and every day, by ensuring a wage that supports the cost of living.

When it comes to our team’s happiness we like to think outside the box. In 2015 alone we’ve hosted Champagne Friday’s, Summer BBQ’s and our 20th Year Summer Ball which saw Hacienda DJ’s K-Klass, perform for our team. This year also saw us celebrate our 12th year consecutive year of profit growth and I am convinced that our continued success is the direct result of happiness and hard work of our team.”

Employers around the UK choose to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross party support, with public backing from the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

Living Wage Foundation Director, Sarah Vero said:

“We are delighted to welcome ANS Group to the Living Wage movement as an accredited employer.

The best employers are voluntarily signing up to pay the Living Wage now. The Living Wage is a robust calculation that reflects the real cost of living, rewarding a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay. We have accredited over 2,000 leading employers, including ANS, ranging from independent printers, bookshops and breweries, to well-known companies such as Nationwide, Aviva and SSE. These businesses recognise that clinging to the national minimum wage is not good for business. Customers expect better than that. “
