This week is Living Wage Week, an annual celebration which recognises the leadership shown by Living Wage employers across the UK.
ANS’ employees are at the heart of organisation and treating them with respect and allowing them to contribute at work and in society is one of the company’s most fundamental values. In 2015, ANS became the first Cloud and Managed Service provider in Manchester to gain accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation by making a voluntary commitment to pay the Living Wage Standard. The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. It is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet.
Paul Shannon, CEO at ANS commented, “At ANS we recognise that every employee forms an integral part of not only our company, but of our culture. Each individual’s contribution is valued and it’s therefore only right that we continue to demonstrate our commitment, in the same way that our team commit to the business and our customers each and every day, by ensuring a wage that supports the cost of living.”
ANS has increase its headcount by 15% in the last year and it strongly believes that the Living Wage is part of a package of benefits that helps it to attract, and retain, its high calibre employees.
During the week, ANS will be getting involved in the Living Wage ‘Thunderclap’, a coordinated tweet of the new Living Wage rates on Monday 6th November as well as joining forces with other business to illustrate the business benefits of paying the real Living Wage via social media.
