Cisco ACI transforms Application Delivery at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council have partnered with leading Cloud Services Provider ANS Group, to deliver a Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) solution, enabling the council to accelerate application delivery and increase business agility. This will ultimately enable them to speed up service delivery to their local communities.
Barnsley Council had an aging core network that was no longer delivering against the growing requirements of the council. The council is driving towards a software defined approach so they can on-board new tenants more easily. The Cisco ACI solution is a comprehensive SDN architecture which is a policy-based automation solution. This will enable Barnsley to automate IT tasks, accelerate data centre application deployments, achieve greater scalability and receive greater network visibility.
Rob Walker, Head of Enterprise Architecture at Barnsley Council said:
“Barnsley Council is putting convenience and efficiency at the heart of how we offer services to our local residents. To achieve this, we must replace our core network and adopt a software defined approach which will allow us to automate key processes, meaning we can accelerate application delivery to speed up the provision of our services.”
Andy Barrow, CTO at ANS said:
“There is a continued drive from public sector bodies to digitise their services where possible, while accelerating service delivery. To ensure the efficiency of these services, councils’ legacy IT infrastructure needs to be refreshed. By adopting SDN capabilities and Cisco ACI, Barnsley Council can rely on ANS to deliver a Cisco ACI solution which will enable them to automate processes and digitise their services.”
