Academy Enhance Student Experience

Fallibroome Academy are working in partnership with ANS to replace their legacy IT infrastructure and ensure they are supported in the event of a disaster. The Academy chose ANS as their preferred supplier of FlexPod technology which utilises the very best technology in compute, storage and networking, offering the best in Managed Infrastructure Services.

FlexPod technology will offer the Academy an easy to manage, efficient infrastructure design that will improve performance whilst reducing costs, and can be tailored to their exact requirements depending on their compute, storage and network demands.

Due to the continued growth of the Academy their current IT infrastructure was starting to struggle with the demands placed on it by the staff and students. The environment, which was unvirtualized, posed potential problems and with the legacy setup a server issue could lead to a slow or temporary loss of service. This was unacceptable to the Academy who strive to ensure that students can access their virtual learning environment and that lessons are not interrupted or delayed.

Andrew Harris, Director of IT explained the reasons behind the solution, “The Academy needs to update its infrastructure to provide a solid foundation to build upon for future projects and educational initiatives. Installing Flexpod will allow us to consolidate our compute and storage requirements and with the use of virtualisation technologies reduce our IT footprint on premise significantly. It was also a key requirement of the project to introduce more resilience into the IT infrastructure to limit the impact of any potential IT issues within the teaching environment alongside a full business continuity solution”

ANS will offer 24 x 7 support across the new FlexPod infrastructure as part of the enhanced managed services package. This means that the Academy will have access to ANS’ ITIL-accredited Service Management team, who will function as an extension of their own IT team. ANS will be on hand to deliver dedicated, high quality service and support to the Academy, giving their staff the ability to move beyond simply managing and maintaining their IT and instead focus on driving change and transformation.

Andrew Harris, Director of IT commented on why ANS were the choice of partner: “ANS demonstrated an excellent understanding of the issues that we experience and produced a robust proposal to address these. The team felt that due to the focused nature and reputation of ANS on Infrastructure and Managed services it was the supplier of choice for our solution and our investment was in safe hands. The implementation of BaaS and DRaaS alongside the Enhanced Managed Service will allow the IT team to focus on the needs of the Academy and not the needs of the IT infrastructure”

To ensure that they have a robust protection strategy in place in the event of a disaster, the Academy have also signed a 5 year contract for Disaster Recovery within Micosoft Azure platform as part of ANS’ Managed Protection Service. Without protection a disaster situation could result in hours or days of downtime, but with DR the Academy will be able to recover critical systems should the worst occur.

Paul Sweeney CEO, ANS said of the partnership. “Fallibroome Academy will soon have an up to date, modern system that will support the Academy’s future growth ambitions. With a managed infrastructure service, the Academy can focus on using their time and talent to more effective and more innovative services.”
