There are so many examples of AI in use today, chatbots, self-driving cars, Netflix, it’s hard to pick just one. We made the choice a little easier by offering just 4 examples, which were AI in journalism, healthcare, tourism or banking. Read on to find out which AI use case came out on top!
That’s better: AI in healthcare – scored a whopping 66%
Well we can’t say this percentage didn’t surprise us!
The introduction of AI into healthcare is bringing with it a new wave of tools and systems that can enhance doctors’ understanding of medical problems, improve the delivery of care, put them ahead of any developing problems.
AI is set to truly disrupt the healthcare industry, particularly when it comes to diagnosis. Immunotherapy treatment is full of promise for cancer patients, however only a few respond to the current treatment.
Machine learning algorithms can synthesise very complicated datasets meaning clinicians could find new ways to target therapies to an individual’s genetic needs.

AI in journalism: No Fake News here – scored 18%
Thanks to the smartphone we’ve come to expect news updates in real-time. We don’t want to know about something after it’s happened, we want to know as it’s happening, and this is a major ask of any journalist no matter how fast they can type so it’s no surprise almost 20% of you can see the potential for AI in journalism.
Automated journalism is becoming more and more popular as publications are turning to AI to create news articles and stories. In 2016, The Washington Post demonstrated its own technical capabilities with its own AI bot, Heliograf. During its coverage of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, Heliograf automatically put together stories by interpreting sports data and structuring it narratively based on patterns it learned from analysing historical Washington Post articles.
While some may be predicting the rise of the robot reporter, many experts believe that AI will enable journalists to do more effective work, enhancing their publications and freeing up more time to cover the stories that we want to hear.
AI in banking – Kerching! – scored 11%
We were a little surprised this percentage wasn’t higher because we do expect to see AI gaining significant traction across the financial sector in the coming years as organisations race to keep up with an ever growing digitally-savvy customers.
Examples of AI in banking are rife. If you’ve ever made a simple transaction online, it’s likely you were assisted by a chatbot. Conversational online assistants are also being used in this sector to advise customers about new offers and services.
But AI in banking goes beyond customer service operations. DBS Bank (Development Bank of Singapore) is showing the rest of the finance industry how it’s done when it comes to digital transformation. In 2009, the bank invested heavily in cloud computing, including the adoption of machine learning.
These changes allowed for DBS to better understand their customers’ needs. They learnt that their customers wanted to do more of the things they loved, and less banking. Enabled with these new insights, DBS streamlined and simplified their banking processes to improve the customer experience. Did it make a difference? Read our blog to find out.

Tourism by its very nature is driven and shaped by personal interactions and it seems you think it might stay that way a little longer. Our Twitter following struggled to see the potential for AI in tourism, but there’s actually bucket loads of opportunities for AI to help improve customer satisfaction, without entirely replacing that crucial human touch.
The Amazon Echo is steadily making its way into thousands of homes across the world, but did you know there is an Amazon Echo for hospitality? The AI-enabled digital assistant allows guests to do everything from set alarms, access their own personal Alexa accounts and connect to other smart devices in their room.
Some forward-thinking hotels are already attempting to automate operations such as delivering extra towels and pillows to rooms using robots. Customer service isn’t always as smooth as we would like but AI-equipped tools could overcome those challenges. Tourists need assistance around the clock and AI chatbots can provide just that as they remove the need for human interaction.
You can find examples of AI even before you have embarked on your journey as many travel companies use sophisticated tools to help you find the best prices for travel and accommodation during your stay.
Although all of these examples will touch our lives in some way in the future, it’s safe to say that AI in healthcare is the use case our followers are most excited about. And with good reason, AI could save your life in the future, literally.
