Watch as Ryan Martin and Chris Folkerd discuss what to expect following the announcement from VMware by Broadcom.

What is the VMware by Broadcom announcement?

The VMware by Broadcom announcement signals substantial changes to the VMware partner ecosystem. One of the most significant updates is the streamlining of the partner program, which reduces the previously tiered structure to a select group of Pinnacle Partners. Though direct customers remain unimpacted, this means that only a handful of partners, designated Pinnacle, will retain the ability to directly transact VMware licenses. Additionally, access to white label programs has become significantly restricted—previously, many Cloud Solution Providers could offer white label licensing, but under the new structure, this option is largely eliminated

What does this mean for VMware’s partners and resellers?

The restructure to the current partner program sees a mass reduction in direct VMware partners, replacing the previously tiered partner structure to a handful of Pinnacle Partner’s in the UK.

How will support services be impacted?

Support services for VMware products will continue as per existing agreements until the end of that contract. Businesses that are impacted will no longer have access to VMware support through distributors or aggregators. The only route to direct support access would be through a pinnacle partner.

What are the timelines for changes to take effect?

The changes will be enforced following the end of the current contract terms a business has in place with Broadcom. For most impacted partners, this will be in April 2027.

What resources or support are available to help navigate this transition?

ANS has launched a Broadcom Navigator solely designed to support impacted partners and customers during this period of changes. The Broadcom Navigator aims to provide a business plan and detailed options for those subject to the changes.
