Background

Designer Sofas Group is a luxury, family‑run furniture retailer working with premium Italian brands. Historically, the business relied on fully paper‑based processes — handwritten orders, manual emailing to factories, and fragmented workflows. As the company grew from six stores to over 20 in four years, this approach became unsustainable. They partnered with Sci‑Net, a part of ANS to modernise operations and introduce ERP>Retail across all stores.

Challenge

Designer Sofas needed to move away from manual, error‑prone processes that slowed operations, increased the risk of mistakes, and limited scalability. Key challenges included:

  • Handwritten orders leading to double‑keying errors
  • Slow, manual warranty submissions that took over an hour per store
  • Time‑consuming order updates requiring lengthy back‑and‑forth communication
  • Lack of workflow visibility and centralised information
  • The need for a more modern, professional customer experience

Solution

Sci‑Net, a part of ANS implemented ERP>Retail seamlessly across the business, directly integrating with Designer Sofas’ suppliers via API and connecting the full Microsoft stack.

Key improvements included:

  • Streamlined digital order‑taking, eliminating paper‑based workflows
  • Automation of complex item coding and price confirmations
  • Centralised order notes, removing the need for lengthy phone calls
  • Warranty automation, reducing a one‑hour process to just 30 seconds for all stores
  • Enhanced customer communication, including prompt and accurate order confirmations
  • Use of Microsoft Business Central, Power BI, and Power Automate for reporting and workflow automation
