London Borough of Lambeth use purpose built app to support the containment and management Covid-19

Lambeth Borough Council has partnered with leading cloud and digital services provider, ANS to launch a complex case management system for coronavirus contact tracing which will help to contain and manage Covid-19 outbreaks across their population of around 330,000 residents.

The council has leveraged ANS’ pre-built Case Management Accelerator which works by using data shared with the council by NHS Test and Trace to contact residents who test positive and provide them with advice and guidance. All positive cases and individuals who have been in close contact with a known positive case will be asked to isolate at home for a period of 10 days.

Lambeth’s Public Health and Public Protection teams needed to ensure the chosen platform had the capability to scale in line with demand, whilst offering the potential to leverage the solution across other areas of their services also dealing with complex case management, ensuring consistency and interoperability with other key systems.

Head of Data, Insights and Analytics at Lambeth Council said, “Like every other local authority, Lambeth needs to play its full part in the localised COVID-19 contact tracing effort and a system that allows for proactive data sharing, contact tracing flows, outbreak management, and ongoing surveillance is vital to the success of that effort. This app is playing a key role for the Council over as the contact tracing programme has developed to take on all cases from the National system.”

Andy Barrow, CTO at ANS added: “We’re delighted to have been able to offer a fast and simple solution to Lambeth Council. We specifically pre-built this app to enable local authorities to act as quickly as possible. We’re currently in a situation where time has never been so critical and we know building a solution from scratch and going through lengthy procurement processes for councils is not the best use of their time, so I’m glad we could offer a solution to help Lambeth manage and contain Covid-19 cases faster.”
