Charity Boxing Night (CBN) celebrates another successful year of fundraising, with the generous support of ANS, helping to raise over £90,000 at the 2023 event and over £440,000 over the last nine years.
Founded in 2015, the hugely successful annual event supports both Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) and Saint Mary’s Hospital, both part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). ANS has always been a pivotal partner since the event’s inception, contributing as a headline sponsor and aiding in the remarkable achievement of surpassing fundraising goals.
The 2023 event, sponsored by ANS, saw 540 attendees and featured 14 fighters competing in exhilarating 3×2 minute rounds. The event also featured an impressive roster of three ANS fighters, including CEO Richard Thompson, raising over £90,000 for the hospitals. This year, on 5th October 2024, CBN returns to the Hilton Hotel in Manchester, Deansgate, expecting 550 attendees and showcasing another thrilling line-up of 14 fighters.
Donna O’Reilly, Senior Community Fundraising Manager for Manchester Foundation Trust Charity which raises money for MFT hospitals, said:
“We’d like to thank everyone at CBN and ANS for their support of our hospitals. The money raised at the 2023 event will be used to provide state-of-the-art equipment for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit including an innovative ventilator that will allow parents, whose poorly baby requires ventilation immediately after birth, to have precious skin to skin time with their newborn.”
Ric Moylan, Founder of Charity Boxing Nights, expressed gratitude, stating:
“RMCH and Saint Mary’s, including its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, do amazing work each and every day to save the lives of countless babies and children. We are trying to play a small part in supporting their work. Our vision for CBN is to raise at least £1 million for the hospitals, and each year our fundraising takes us a step closer towards our goal. I want to say a huge thank you to our team, our fighters, to everybody who has attended CBN, and to our partners for their ongoing support.”
Rich Thompson, ANS CEO, commented: “Charity Boxing Nights is doing incredible work raising funds to help newborn babies in RMCH and Saint Mary’s. ANS Group is proud to support this great cause and contribute in any way we can. Together, let’s continue to champion this incredible initiative in 2024 and make a difference in the lives of those in need.”
